The Mechanical Keyboard Buyers Guide

Making the switch from a membrane keyboard to a mechanical keyboard is one of the best decisions you will ever make. You’ll immediately see a number of benefits from a mechanical keyboard including better gaming performance and precision, work efficiency, and the lifespan of your keyboard.

When gaming, regardless of the type of game you’re playing, but especially with first person shooters, MOBAs, and other games that require quick reflexes and even quicker keyboard responses, the benefit of a mechanical keyboard will be immediately noticeable over a traditional keyboard. In a mechanical keyboard, keystroke sensitivity is higher so each key requires less force to activate. This is great when you need to make a fast, split second keystroke. Another benefit of a mechanical keyboard is the longevity of the keyboard itself. Not only are mechanical keyboards built better with higher quality materials (given the higher price points), the mechanics of the keystrokes are reliant on a less technical process. This means it takes more for them to break.

Finally, most gamers straight up prefer the feel of a mechanical keyboard. There’s something about pressing down and hearing the feint (or loud, depending on the keys you get) clicking noise of a mechanical keyboard that gamers prefer as their go to keyboard.

We know it can be difficult to choose from all of the mechanical keyboards out there, but here are a few guidelines that will help you make the best choice. And once you’ve read up on that, check out our keyboard reviews here:
